Dr. Robert Laitman,

Dr. Robert Laitman is a psychiatric internist whose life and practice were forever changed by his family's personal journey with schizophrenia. Trained initially in nephrology, Dr. Laitman turned his focus to mental health after his son, Daniel, was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2006.

Facing a fragmented and often ineffective system, his family found hope and healing through the right diagnosis, scientifically-backed care, and the introduction of Clozapine. This medication not only helped Daniel achieve lasting recovery but also inspired a new purpose in Dr. Laitman's career.

Over the past decade, Dr. Laitman has built a specialized practice dedicated to treating psychotic disorders, with a particular emphasis on the transformative role of Clozapine. He is also the author of Meaningful Recovery from Schizophrenia & Serious Mental Illness with Clozapine. This informative book outlines his family's personal story while also providing scientific insight into treating serious mental illnesses (SMIs) with Clozapine.

A passionate advocate for reforming the way SMIs are treated, Dr. Laitman serves on the Board of Directors for the Schizophrenia and Related Disorders Alliance of America (SARDAA) and is a board member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)–New York.
